Founder and Instructor

Malaina Jackson, RN, BSN

Healthcare has always been more than a career for me—it’s a calling. I founded Horizon Healthcare Academy to provide students with a flexible, supportive path into healthcare through quality education, hands-on training, and mentorship.

As a registered nurse with experience in acute care, long-term care, and leadership, I understand what it takes to succeed in today’s healthcare field. My mission is to equip every student with the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on skills needed to provide compassionate, high-quality care and build a rewarding career. At Horizon Healthcare Academy, every student’s success is our priority.

Chief of Operations

Lanell Jackson, ASW

With over 10 years of administrative and office management experience, I am committed to creating a welcoming and organized environment for every student. I take pride in keeping our daily operations running smoothly, providing exceptional customer service, and helping each student feel supported from enrollment through graduation. My goal is to ensure every interaction with Horizon Healthcare Academy is professional, efficient, and positive.

Why should I attend Horizon?

Hybrid Learning, Flexible Education

Our hybrid learning model is designed to give students the flexibility they need without sacrificing the quality of their education. The online portion allows students to complete coursework in a convenient and accessible format, making it easier to balance school with work, family, and everyday responsibilities.

In-person lab sessions and hands-on instruction help reinforce what students learn online, allowing them to practice essential nursing assistant skills with guidance and support. This blended approach creates a learning experience that is both flexible and effective, preparing students for success in the classroom and in the healthcare setting.

Clinical Experience

Students receive valuable hands-on clinical experience in a real healthcare environment under the supervision of qualified instructors and staff. During clinical training, students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they learned in class while building confidence in patient care, communication, professionalism, and daily nursing assistant responsibilities.

This real-world experience helps students become more comfortable working with patients and equips them with the practical skills needed to transition into the workforce with confidence.

Job Readiness & Support

Eligible graduates may receive:

Résumé development and job application assistance
Interview preparation, including practice questions and professional tips
Guidance on presenting themselves professionally to healthcare employers
Introductions to participating long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and other healthcare employers when opportunities are available
Help locating the correct nurse aide registry for their state
Assistance understanding certification testing and application requirements
Guidance with reciprocity or transferring nurse aide credentials to another state, when available
Continued access to career resources and employment leads shared by Horizon
